domenica's blog
Thank you so much for coming into bemomalicious.com. Each week I will blog about the food, events, products and women that inspire me and the women I work so closely with every day. This week, I’m inspired by our new site—a place to learn weekly kitchen and cooking tips, recipes, dinner you can make TONIGHT that is easy and healthy, and a place to connect with me and other families about the issues you most care about. As more and more of us expand our communities on line and as we share and learn about our health through on line resources, I hope you will see bemomalicious.com as a central place to visit each week. Please let me know what is on your mind and what you would like to see more of—or just ask questions about cooking, groceries, the pantry, food storage and prep and I’ll help you through it. I know it can be overwhelming, but this is what I’m here for. Looking forward to connecting, inspiring and helping each of you find and retain your momalicious spark!

Cooking at home

Cooking at Home AsparagusThe best part of cooking in the restaurant is:

  1. there are plenty of ingredients prepped and available
  2. no dishes.

The first night I cooked at home after opening Catelli’s I was reminded of the challenge we face in our home kitchens (especially on week nights). Time is of the essence. I want something delicious and healthy on the table but I don’t want to be bothered with tons of prep or clean up. That’s when a one-dish dinner never sounded or tasted so good!

Food, family, and a new restaurant

There is nothing quite like getting a new business off the ground to take your brain away.

catellis-logo.jpgSince the end of January I have been in the midst of re-opening my family's restaurant in Geyserville, CA. My grandparents opened Catelli’s in 1936, my father took over in the mid sixties and ran it until the late eighties. Now, 20 years later my brother Nicholas and I have re-opened Catelli’s! It was a culinary challenge to weave 3 generations of recipes together. (My grandmother's, my father's and my own). The town has a “memory in its mouth” according to one of my friends. There are people who are in their 90’s that are showing up and saying “this tastes just like your Nonni’s minestrone.”

Mother’s day 2010
Domenica_and_mom.jpgWith mothers day right around the corner the question of the moment is of course: “What makes your mom (wife, sister, bff, grandma, etc.) “Mom-a-licious”? The response to this question over the past few years has fed me with everything from laughter to tears to awe. The women who are caregiving, loving, feeding, encouraging and inspiring know no bounds. I feel grateful and blessed to be a catalyst for people to share their stories. Please send us your nominees and thoughts. The winner will get a Mom-a-licious gift basket (including a pair of Habitual jeans ($200 value), extra virgin olive oil and vinegar from Lucini, agave nectar, kitchen gadgets, a signed copy of momalicioius, and some other goodies) the next 5 will receive a signed copy of Mom-a-licious. So bring it on! 200 words or less….”Why my (wife, sister, bff, grandma, etc.) is Mom-a-licious”
